I have a wealth of knowledge and experience from a long career as a hand surgeon. My professional practice spanned both academic and private practice, and included all aspects of hand surgery, with a special focus on Dupuytren's disease. I introduced needle aponeurotomy for Dupuytren's contracture to the USA and have the largest personal experience with this procedure of any American doctor. Because of this experience, I established The Dupuytren Foundation, a 501(c)(3) public charity working to support research and education to find a cure for Dupuytren's disease and related conditions. I currently work full time as its president. I am actively involved with the American Society for Surgery of the Hand and the American Association for Hand Surgery and regularly lecture on hand surgery topics through these and other organizations. I have authored 30 academic publications, including 9 textbook chapters on hand surgery topics. I created and maintain http://e-Hand.com, The Electronic Textbook of Hand Surgery, currently used in surgery programs worldwide. I organized and ran the 2010 International Symposium on Dupuytrens Disease http://dupuytrensymposium.com, which included attendees from 17 countries and led to the publication of a textbook based on the proceedings. All proceeds I receive from 2nd.MD go directly to The Dupuytren Foundation, allowing YOU to claim $157 as a TAX DEDUCTIBLE CHARITABLE DONATION from your consultation.
