Professional Focus I have enjoyed teaching, having directed the pain fellowship training programs at Johns Hopkins University and at Cornell University, and am actively involved in research for both analgesic medicines as well as devices to treat pain. I routinely utilize radiofrequency technology as well as nerve stimulators for the treatment of spine, neck, back, hip, and knee disorders, as well as for chronic headaches. I also perform minimally invasive procedures for herniated disks, spinal stenosis, and vertebral fractures. I have chaired the annual scientific meeting as well as served on the Board of Directors for the American Academy of Pain Medicine. I have participated as an expert for the development of guidelines for intrathecal infusion therapy and chaired the NCCN Cancer Pain guideline committee. I am widely published in the field of chronic pain, and am currently co-editing an upcoming textbook.
